THE QUEENS DIAMOND JUBILEE WEEKEND 1st to 5th JUNE 2012

The committee has been working hard through the long winter evenings to formulate a full weekend of events.

We start on FRIDAY with a lunch in the village hall.

This is being organised by Marilyn and Trish with Youth Club in attendance. There will be a two course lunch followed by a good old fashioned sing-a-long with Friday Club’s favourite Tim Greenwood.

There will be a nominal charge of £2 per person and tickets

must be bought in advance. There are a limited amount of tickets and

we would like them to go to our “over 60’s”. Tickets are available at the Post Office.

On SATURDAY there will be a childrens Diamond Hunt on the

playing field from 11.30 with a bbq and sports games.

This is aimed at primary school children and more details will follow.

The main event is on SUNDAY 3rd June. There will be a carnival procession from Green Lane down Temple Side and through the village to the Playing Field. We are hoping that lots of people will join in the parade in fancy dress and there will be prizes

for those judged the best.

On the field we want everyone to join in The Queen’s Big Lunch. We want you to bring your own food and drink, tables and chairs or just a blanket to sit on. We have tables with pitches available for you hire at £5 per table. These will have priority and will be closest to the stage where the entertainment will be. These will be sold on a first come first served basis and will be in an exclusive area. The remainder of the field will be free for everyone to choose wherever you wish to sit. Plenty of room for all. Please see the booking form if you wish book your £5 pitch.

The entertainment will include JOSH the clown for the children and in the evening our HEADLINE ACT is THE NEW DREAMERS…. For those who remember Freddie and the Dreamers… they are a 60’s /70’s cabaret show band with some original members of the old band!

We are hoping to attract some local entertainment

as well, and of course we will have a have a sing-a-long.

There will be an ice cream van in the afternoon and in the evening a burger van will be there for hot food and drinks.

We have also organised proper toilet facilities with a big vote of thanks to the Parish Council for their help with the finance.

We will finish the evening with a bang about

10pm with a fireworks display!

On MONDAY the Parish Council have organised a new beacon for the playing field. We are officially part of the HRH Diamond Jubilee Beacon Lighting Event. We are hoping to get everyone gathered around the beacon for the special celebration at approximately 10.30pm. For more information look at the website www.diamondjubileebeacons.co.uk

We will be printing a commemorative programme of events so please buy one when they are out and we are aiming to fund raise with a prize draw so look out for those tickets too.

We need people to volunteer to help us with the organisation

on Sunday. We need marshalls and stewards for the parade and on the field. We also need people to help set up and take down all the tables and cordons in the arena. We would like to have first aiders on duty so if you are qualified and would be prepared to be available on the day we would love you to contact us.

WE ARE ALL LOOKING FORWARD TO A BRILLIANT WEEKEND.. DON’T FORGET YOUR FLAGS!

Any enquiries or to volunteer, contact Alyson 823598

Welcome to the village of Temple Ewell. Our beautiful village lies three miles north-west of Dover at the head of a wide valley which stretches to the sea. Steep hills, which form part of the North Downs, bound the village on both sides.
Temple Ewell Parish Council is pleased to introduce you to its website. On these pages you will find information and news about the Council as well as the local area and its organisations and activities.  Our aim is to put Temple Ewell on the map with a web presence and to become an increasingly important source of information for anyone concerned with our community. Therefore we welcome any comments and suggestions that you wish to make. You can do this by using the Message Centre.
